Mutual Respect

Lor Coe has taken up his new post as Chairman of the British Olympic Committee, and despite at times being heavily criticised by the British press praised them by saying that they were ‘the best and most forensic in the world.’ With the recent phone tapping scandal his comment raised a few eyebrows to say the least.

However his comments may well have been made in light of a presentation made by journalists at a sports lobby group reception, where he was presented with a framed front page from the French newspaper L’Equipe from the day that London defeated Paris to win the hosting rights for the 2012 Olympic Games.

The headline was “Pourquoi Londres?” or “Why London?” Having witnessed a superb Olympics hopefully the French will now comprehend.
