Cherry On Top of Real Madrid’s Trip to the Seaside.

It seemed hard to believe that Real Madrid had agreed to a pre-season game to newly promoted Championship side AFC Bournemouth on Britain’s South coast, but Cherries fans were not dreaming and the match was a reality.

It became a night to remember in more ways than one, for one youngster.

Six minutes into the game and Portuguese superstar, ex Manchester United player  Cristiano Ronaldo was lining up a free kick 35m from goal. The venomous drive missed the goal and cannoned into the stands where it struck eleven-year old Charlie Silverwood, breaking his arm.

Despite the pain Charlie remained at the game with his dad and only went to the hospital after the final whistle where it was revealed he had a double fracture.

Charlie told the papers afterwards “My dad was sat next to me and ducked out of the way, so I took the full force.”

Bournemouth on hearing of the mishap and the fact that Charlie will be in plaster for the whole six weeks of his school holidays, presented him with a signed Real Madrid shirt by Ronaldo and his team mates, as well as a ball signed by the Bournemouth side.

For the record Real Madrid won 6-0. But Charlie scored a double for Bournemouth fans!
