Many football fans were excited to hear that David Beckham opting to take up the option of a licence for a Major League Soccer team in Miami. However news that Miami Heat basketball superstar LeBron James may also become involved in the club has sports fans salivating.

On his involvement James is quoted as saying, “Hopefully I can be. Right now there are some things that need to be worked out but I think its exciting for the city of Miami.”

James is regarded as one of the greatest basketball players of all time, but has long had a passion for football and has established a close friendship with Beckham in recent years that has seen the footballer court side at his friend’s key games. James also already has a minority stake in English Premier League side Liverpool.

With two true superstars behind the team many fans of the two players are bound to sign up as supporters before a ball is kicked. Hopefully they can indeed make Miami a team of which the city can be proud.
